Bio

Eva Struble

Eva Struble’s paintings, textiles and public works deal with landscape through the lens of social, environmental, and personal histories. Her work undermines traditional viewpoints and modes of depth using oil, acrylic, and textile dyeing on 2D and 3D surfaces. She received her MFA in painting from Yale University and is a Professor at the School of Art and Design at San Diego State University. Recent projects have explored an embodied sense of site, human-altered landscape, and botany of Southern California and have been exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, Jane Lombard Gallery in New York, and the Athenaeum Gallery in La Jolla, CA. Public and private commissions include Google San Diego, Meta in Burlingame, CA and the UC Irvine Hospital. She recently completed a multi-story permanent painting for the atrium of the San Diego Natural History Museum. Selected residencies include the Vermont Studio Center, the Headlands Center for the Arts, and the Andratx Cultural Center in Mallorca. Her work has received praise in Art In America, The Village Voice, the San Diego Union Tribune and other publications. You can find her work at www.evastruble.com and @evastruble .
