Bio
Ahavani Mullen
Ahavani Mullen is a visual artist whose paintings, sculptures, and installations explore consciousness through the language of material and vibration. Working with paint, transparent textiles, aluminum, copper, and sound, her practice bridges the seen and unseen—translating ephemeral frequencies into immersive fields of color, light, and texture. By integrating sound and sacred mantras into her raw materials, Mullen distills the energetic imprint of audio and text through sunlight, structured water, and pigment.
She has been awarded fellowships and residencies from the Tusen Takk Foundation, the Macedonia Institute, Vermont Studio Center, and Hypatia Trust. Additional honors include recognition by James Rondeau, Director of the Art Institute of Chicago, as well as grants from 3Arts, the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, Illinois Arts Council, and New York Foundation for the Arts. Recent solo exhibitions include Across Centuries and the Earth at the Dennos Museum. Mullen lives and works in San Diego.
